Roots
Working with wood isn't something you learn in a day. The moment sandpaper meets an edge. The smell of fresh shavings. A feel for when a cut is fine enough. At Schachatelier, every master craftsman inherited this knowledge from another. That's how craftsmanship lives on: passed from hand to hand, with patience.

The Philosophy of the Game
Chess demands the same patience. Rush, and you lose – on the board as on the workbench. Shaping a chess piece into its right proportions is little different from making a move at the right moment: neither ever happens carelessly. Perhaps that's why chess is one of the few games passed down from generation to generation – an heirloom.

Craftsmanship
Today, this tradition takes a concrete shape. Schachatelier is at home in Berlin – a city where cultures, stories, and people from around the world come together. This is where our designs are born. Every set is finished by hand by experienced craftsmen: solid wood, made piece by piece, with a care that mass production simply doesn't know. An optional engraving carries this legacy one step further – turning a chess set into a piece with a name.

Responsibility
Passing a craft on to future generations doesn't end with working the wood. With every order at Schachatelier, a tree is planted – a small but lasting mark. Like the craftsmen's legacy, it keeps growing too.

Invitation
Every Schachatelier set is waiting to become the beginning of its own story. Carry this craftsmanship into your own story now – with a gift, a name, a memory.
